Well, I didn't regain my crown. Too much bloody history of spurned monarchs trying to re-ascend the throne. So I abdicated. More accurately, I came in second. Even more accurately, I tied for second. But since they had expected a first, second, and third, they had the crown for first, and ribbons for second and third. Being the gracious ex-monarch, I accepted the third place ribbon for my second-place finish.
When the history is written and pictures published on the internet, know that even though you may see me with a third place ribbon, I actually came in second. Which was my choice because I did not want the bloodshed. And because my Hatch recipe was not as good as the one that won. But was exactly as good as the other one that came in second.
I would publish my recipe here, but I think Central Market might own it now. Plus, I meant to print it out after I submitted it on-line, but apparently that is something you should do before submitting. So my dish today was very probably related to the recipe I submitted, but I'm really not sure. And no, I hadn't actually made it before I submitted it. My process is to start with the name (Hatch-uan Beef), then figure out the recipe. If it gets selected, then worry about if it's any good when one prepares it. Hey, it got me tied for second! Or as the other 2nd place winner told me: "first loser." She came in second all her own last year. So she owns second place. Except for this year, when we tied for second. Even if the picture shows me with a third place ribbon.
