Battling Northerners in the Fifth Grade

Seems that the hardtack went over well.  Alexis came home with a new list of items for the next project: 2x4 board (about 3 feet long); metal tube, open at both ends, 5 mm through the tube; whittling equipment; small lead balls (about 5 mm diameter); precision mettallurgy tools; something called a "flintlock mechanism", and gunpowder.  Most of these things we were able to get at Michael's, though I had to go to the internet for the flintlock.  Surpisingly, the gunpowder was easy.  I actually got that as a free gift when I attended a local Tea Party Patriots gathering.

Again, I'm kicking myself for not asking what the ultimate goal was for these items.  Perhaps some kind of tent?  I really need to pay more attention to my children's schoolwork.  Take an interest in their projects.
