Pennies a Ton

I kinda love my spam.  Not the processed meat food variety, but the outrageous offers and claims I get through the internets.  Case in point is this offer I got today:

Blueberry Giant - Grow Your Own Delicious Blueberries from home.

Medical research has shown that eating blueberries can help you lose abdominal fat, improve your memory, and even prevent cancer. Now you can grow your very own blueberries, get as much as FOUR pints of blueberries each day. Delicious blueberries are full of antioxidants.
Get TWO plants, plus an extra one on us, for only $10.00

I have to admit that this was unique for me.  Never have I recieved an offer for blueberry plants through electronic mail. Score on the free third plant!  (Side note - the only thing even comparable to this was that guy selling seeds door-to-door.  I truly doubt they were "magical" like he claimed).  And I'm pretty sure that delicious blueberries ARE full of antioxidants!

I'm a numbers guy, so I thought I might calculate this out a bit.  Four pints of blueberries is 1/2 a gallon.  So, in a year, one could harvest 182.5 gallons of blueberries (365 days x 1/2 gallon/day). I went back to the internets to find that one gallon of blueberries weighs 6 lbs. 8 oz.  Mutliplying 182.5 gallons x 6.5 lbs/gallon = 1,186.25 pounds of blueberries.  Every year.  For $10, this is quite the deal.  Though I do get a mental picture of one of those fairy tales or cartoons where something won't stop growing and it takes over everything.

I can't say what I'm going to do with over 1/2 a ton of blueberries per year, but how could I not buy this?  For my friends and family, get ready for a deluge of blueberry pies, tarts, cakes, breads, and muffins; blueberry potpouri; dried blueberries; blueberry preserves; weekly delicious blueberry baskets; and blueberries.
