For three years, whenever it rains in Austin, my office ceiling gets two very pronounced wet spots. Granted, with the drought we have been having, it's just like having a real roof.
Every time it rains, new wet spot. We call the management company. They send out the roofer. Crusty old guy who takes a look around and tells us it's an air conditioning problem. (Just happens to coincide with EVERY SINGLE time it rains). So they send out the A/C guy, who tinkers with the units on the roof (I guess), and then leaves. And then they change the wet tile. Roof is fixed! Until it rains again. Then we go through the same idiot "lather / rinse / repeat cycle."
I'm not a roofer (or an A/C guy), but when it rains, we hear the drops onto the ceiling tiles. When it rains hard (again, not so much these days), the ceiling tile will fall in.
But apparently it's not a roof problem.
So finally the management company hires a new roofing company. It rained last week so we have two new wet, sagging tiles.
But it's not a roof problem.
The new guys have been banging around on the roof for four days. I thought they were fixing it until they came into our office with a tape measure. Three times. They measure the distance from the window to the wet tile. Each time. The third time they told us "we just can't find it!"
I asked "the roof? It's right above us." Seems they found the roof with little problem, they just can't seem to find the gaping hole where water is pouring down onto our ceiling tiles. I suggested they try hanging off the edge of the second floor by a rope that one of them ties around his waist, and look through our window from the outside to get a general idea. And then go back up and look for the gaping hole on the roof that is allowing water to drain onto the same two ceiling tiles for three years. They said they'd give that some thought.
What we really need is Jack Jackson, with his American roofing company with an eagle and a flag. Jack Jackson could find and fix the gaping hole.
Assuming it was a roof problem.
