Facebook sent me a "Social Calendar reminder" that Russell Smith's birthday is on November 17th. I'm not that old yet, Facebook.
Oh, and thanks for outing me on my age! I set up a "Birthday Wish" to ask people to give to one of the programs that my organization runs instead of sending me a birthday present. Of course, I didn't really expect presents from my 3rd grade classmates or that guy from the dorm who I didn't remember till he "friended" me. But you never know.
So Facebook sends out an e-mail telling my third cousin; that girl I danced with once to that Donna Summers song "Last Dance" at an 8th grade dance; that woman with 832 friends who knows 43 people I know; the mayor of Houston; and all of my other close friends "You should donate $44 for Russell's upcoming birthday!"
In the grand scheme of things, a $39 donation is not that different than a $44 donation. You couldn't have asked for a lower amount, Facebook?
