Death of a Snowman

It snowed in Austin on Tuesday!  Our once-every-three-years snowfall.  Or, looking at it another way, the one time in every 37.3 times (using a 20 year average) that the "meteorologists" tell us there is going to be snow that there actually IS snow.

I picked up the girls early from school so we could play.  Hey, they'll be in middle school next time this happens.

We built ourselves a lovely snowman with the light sprinkling of snow that accumulated.  Another cool reason to have a trampoline: there was a nice little snow drift inside the netting.

In honor of our last snowman (who died too young), we named this snowwoman (according tp the girls) Oscarina.  We had enough extra snow to build her a companion.  A snow bunny.  The bunny must have scared off Blossom, who let Oscarina live a normal snowperson lifespan.

Abby and the neighbor kids built a snow wall.  Our snow bunny could totally have jumped that.

 Four hours old.
Twenty-four hours old.

Thirty-six hours old.

Forty-eight hours old.
My apologies to those of you who are squeamish.  I should have warned you.

And this being Austin, it's been in the 70's pretty much everyday since Tuesday.

Safe travels, Oscarina and Snow Bunny.  We will always remember you.
