Over the holidays, I did a bit of cycling. It was a bit cold and windy, but that's par for the course in central Texas. You know what they say: "If it's not cold and windy, it's not one to two weeks in late December to early January!" So true.
On one ride, I passed literally seven discarded banana peels (though it was likely only three or four. I literally inflated it for dramatic effect). Every couple of miles, another banana peel. I thought that someone sure was getting their potassium! And were under the mistaken impression that banana peels are biodegradable on concrete shoulders.
But after the fifth or sixth (or literally maybe the third), it occurred to me that something else might be at work here. And then I saw it in the distance, what can only be described as a medium sized red box with an upside-down question mark on it. I rode toward it but didn't quite reach it. Just before I came upon it, I heard this insistent "Bmm bmm bmm BMMMMM!!!" noise, something black and inky sprayed in my eyes, and then everything went black and I found myself on the side of the road.
Fucking Bowser.
